Premiers Reading Challenge 2007

 

Access to the full book list can be obtained at www.schools.nsw.edu.au/premiersreadingchallenge.

Challenge begins in Sept and finishes in Aug each year and is divided into 3 sections K-2, 3-4, 5-6.

 

K-2 challenge is for students in K-3 as Y3 students may have begun the challenge in 2005. 40 books must be read independently or  shared with parents.  5 can be personal choice books that are not on the list but appropriate fro the child’s reading ability and from the 3-4 list if appropriate reading level. K-2 challenge books have a red dot on the spine of the book in Truscott Street Primary School Library

 

Y3-4 challenge is for students in Yr 3-5. Y 5 students can do the 3-4 list or 5-6 list. 20 books must be read however 15 must be from 3-4 list or higher list. Up to 5 books can be personal choice.

 3-4 challenge books have a green dot on the spine of the book in Truscott Street Primary School Library

 

Y5-6 challenge readers must read 20 books. 15 must be from 5-6 list or higher and 5 can be personal choice books.

Who has to register?

Individual students do not have to register. Schools register for everyone attending schools. If leaving one school the challenge can be continued at another and entry submitted in Aug at the new school.

 

Reading logs are available at the TSPS library or online and must be kept in a safe place until August and returned Mrs Glendinning for posting.

 

Privacy issues.

Parents must read the privacy statement and notify teacher/librarian if they do not want their child’s name to appear on any honour roll.

 

Challenge Certificates issued in December from Premier. Last year 39 students completed the challenge we want to do better this year!!
