MINUTES OF MEETING HELD WEDNESDAY 4th June 2008

Meeting opened at 7:40pm by Kathleen Flockton (President)

Nikki Stevens moved that the minutes of the last meeting be accepted.Seconded by Jenny Cooper.

PRINCIPAL’S REPORT

Michelle Shannon:

  • Thank you to families who have sent there condolences in for Brianna’s family. The funeral is next week.
  • Mothers Day stall was very successful.
  • Years 3 and 5 have had done the National Assessment Test.
  • Paul Kelly was played on 26th May, we won the 1st game but unfortunately lost to Cromer.
  • Kindergarten sang at Eastwood Plaza.  They sang “I am Australian” and performed beautifully.  Thanks to Mrs Oweis for her assistance.
  • The opening of the Liberty Swing was on 28th May.  Sydney Markets came and were very impressed with the school.
  • The open day was a huge success and the Assembly was amazing – Particularly the slide show with the music and photos.  Thankyou to Mrs Oweis for all her efforts.  Had a lot of interest from parents who wished to purchase a copy of the CD.
  • Public Speaking on the open day went very well, the winners will be announced on Friday.
  • Unfortunately our school did not win the ‘Healthy School Competition’ run by Channel 9.
  • New fencing around the school likes very nice.
  • New windows for the school will be a 10 week project – still waiting to hear when they will commence.
  • The learning common has been closed until further notice due to damp problems and unsafe areas.
  • School photos are next week.
  • Many thanks to Fete committee for all their organization.
  • Reports due home 20th June.
  • Parent/Teacher interviews week 9 & 10.
  • The General Assistant position has been advertised today.

  • Canteen has been very busy with the hot food etc.

OOSH

  • A copy of OOSH’s monthly minutes are on the noticeboard for anyone to read.
  • Working very hard towards accreditation.

FUNDRAISING          Nikki Stevens

  • No financial report tabled.
  • Last week for Entertainment books to buy.

UNIFORM SHOP             No Report.

BAND                   Marg Aiken:            Financial tabled.

GROUNDS           No Report.

GOAL                   No Report.

PUBLICITY          Kathleen Flockton:

  • Sent emails regarding the fete.
  • Been in contact with Channel 9 – The Today Show – for Steve Jacobs to attend the school re: the Liberty Swing.

FETÉ COMMITTEE            Jenny Cooper:

  • Thanks to every one for all their efforts.
  • Fete meetings will now be every 2nd week with 11 ½ weeks left.
  • Will be starting sorting all products in the demountable classroom.
  • Dinner dance tickets are going very well – half way there.
  • More help is still needed.

LANE COVE RIVER P & C            No report.

GENERAL BUSINESS

  • Truscott Street has a facebook page.
  • Cooper Sports are involved with World Youth Day on 20th July.  Need parent volunteers (300 approx) to sell souvenir books.  For every book sold the school gets 50 cents.
